Company Mascot Sugar Magnolia "Maggie" (1996-2011)
When we first started this company in 1997 we had a wonderful little brown cocker spaniel named
Sugar Magnolia, but we called her Maggie. We also had three sugar magnolia trees in the garden of our first office in the Oakland, California hills. So the company was named after this delightful, inspiring and completely full-of-love little dog -- and the trees she loved to sit under. She was always next to the desk and ready to play when it was time for a break. She traveled on business trips and flew out to the east coast in first class, nibbling banana muffins and strawberries the whole way. She loved music and attended countless music festivals and peace rallies in her short life, getting cuddles and snacks from everyone who met her.
